About
We are now an online store AND a retail store! It’s a big step for us, and we’re totally excited about our new space. Come by and check us out. Our new address is 515 S. Fairfax Ave, in Los Angeles, 90036. Call us at 323-938-9230 with any questions.
How our online store works.
First, spend some time hunting through our photo galleries. We have organized them by item, room, style, even color. But even if you are looking for something specific, browse through the other galleries – you may find something that you didn’t know you needed, the perfect piece to complement your house or apartment. Consider it your own private treasure hunt.

Then come by and see us in our new retail space at 515 S. Fairfax, in Los Angeles. If you have a long list of items, email that list to us and we can get stuff ready for you.
We are very flexible and will make ourselves available by appointment even after regular business hours. And you can take your item home right away.

Repeat.
Check back often. If you don’t want to miss out on the latest treasure, check back on Mondays & Tuesdays, when we post our new finds. And if you are looking for something specific, let us know and we will keep an eye out for you. It’s like having your own personal shopper and vintage furniture guru!
We will ship items to you if you cannot come see them. We have gift certificates available for the vintage design lover. And we offer interior design and decorating services, whether you want assistance with making the right choices, or designing an entire room, or an entire house.
Prop/scenic rentals. Yep, we’ll do that for you. Almost everything in stock is available for production rental. Just ask.
Who we are.
The idea of ThisIsNotIkea.com started with one of our founders and creative director, Alexis Hadjopulos. He’s the man behind the vision of what we buy and sell.

Tom Whitman joined Alexis to officially launch TINI and ThisIsNotIkea.com in 2008, in order to realize their joint vision of providing a place where cool, unique, and vintage furniture is available to people at an IKEA price.
Why do people buy our pieces?
Because for the same amount of money as a piece of disposable furniture from a big box store, you can own a beautiful unique piece of vintage furniture that will stand the test of time as well as the tests of design and style. When you buy something from us, not only will you love your unique piece of furniture, you won’t walk into a friend’s house and realize you have the same lamp or dresser that they have.

Vintage is the ultimate Green.
Buying vintage is the ultimate green way to shop. You don’t increase your carbon footprint through manufacturing. You are recycling, in the best sense of the word. That beautiful 50’s lamp doesn’t end up in a landfill, (and you are way cooler than your friends.)
Where do we find our pieces?
We scour more than 100 estate sales, auctions, garage sales, flea markets and online outlets each week.
What kind of pieces do we buy?
Every piece we purchase speaks to us. There’s no single style or perspective. As you browse our website, you will see a range of styles, from mid-century modern and retro 60’s to shabby chic and unique art pieces, but they all share a “this is not ikea” look. We look for pieces that are unique, interesting, classic, artistic – pieces with personality. We look for pieces that we would put in our own homes.

TV shows, celebrities, designers and you.
Our store has something for everyone. If you’re looking for design at a bargain price, we’re it. But even when the price is not the most important factor, we offer edgy, interesting options. Set designers and interior designers stop by all the time. TV shows such as Heroes, Top Design, the Chris Isaak Show, Swingtown, and many HGTV shows including The Antonio Project have purchased or rented items at TINI. Celebrities have shopped with us, including Jessica Alba, Mandy Moore, Ryan Gosling, Ewan McGregor, Seth Rogen, Tracy Chapman, Molly Sims, Justin Long, and Olivia Wilde.
I need help with design and decorating!

We can help you design and redecorate a room, or a whole house. We can design a space from the ground up, or we can recommend a single piece that might work with your existing furniture or artwork.
